Merry Christmas from Montana

Dear Reader,

Merry Christmas from Montana!

It’s been a quiet Christmas here. The week before Christmas we had subzero temperatures that looked like a typo when I wrote them down. On Christmas Eve the outside thermometer was turned up and we’ve had weather above freezing the past two days. As a result, the snow has melted into ice, and it’s a skating rink outside of our front door.

As I write this Doug is putting down sand to keep us from falling and finding me my crampons in the shed to put over my tennis shoes so I can walk Loki.

My Christmas miracle this year, the one that I am most proud of, is that I fixed a plumbing problem with our toilet and a.) we didn’t need to use a bucket to relieve ourselves in over the holidays and b.) it was a simple fix that didn’t require a plumber (just a fearless gloved hand). That was already probably too much information, but I need you to know that that fix took courage, and I am not usually the handy person in the house.

So … I’ve been grinning all day, singing silly songs like a schoolgirl, because our plumbing is working like a charm, and we didn’t have to hire someone with a backhoe to fix it! It’s the little things (well this was rather a big thing) I tell you.

I usually send Christmas cards, or New Year’s cards or Groundhog Day cards, but this year, I decided to make a video card on Christmas Eve. I think it turned out really well. Hope it gives you a bit of Christmas cheer too. Click play to watch.

Love,

Janelle
